Friday Five: Fall Equinox

It's that time of year, at least north of the equator. The windows are still open, but the darned furnace comes on early in the morning. My husband went out for a walk after an early supper and came home in full darkness.

And yes, where we live, leaves are beginning to turn.

As this vivid season begins, tell us five favorite things about fall:

1) A fragrance

The smell of leaves on the ground. Not when I rake them (I'm allergic!) That papery, woody, smell of leaves.

2) A color

The color of the maple tree in my back yard. They are a lovely shade of SCARLET against a GREY sky...

3) An item of clothing
My "Wicked Good" slippers come out of hiding!

4) An activity
Watching football! Specifically, OHIO STATE football (what else?)

5) A special day
November 22nd. I'll be in Ohio Stadium to watch OSU take down Michigan!

O - H!

as you were...

GO BUCKEYES!!!

They're my favorite, too.

But... sigh... now I'm very jealous that you'll be in the Horseshoe for the Michigan game. Take pictures?

I enjoy college football also.

We have leaves to rake as well! Strangely (to me) the trees in our yard keep their leaves all winter and start shedding them now with the warmer weather.

Remembering the Fraternity Row floats at the U of Minn., I don't recall that the Homecoming game was against OSU while I was seeing them, but I am intrigued by what the visual of the Gophers and Buckeyes might be. Are buckeyes nuts as well as trees? Then the Gopher could crack the nut. But if the tables were turned and MN visited OH for Homecoming, what would the mascots be doing?

I agree with your special day...but for a very different reason. GO BLUE!

Great play for the Friday five.

What a cute retro poster beside answer #5. Too bad we can't all get along like that any more!

(There's probably going to be a blowout victory by OSU, given current trends in UM games!)
